The Registror referred at this time to the sum of $5,397.75
owing by the President of Ching. for scholarships given in his
nome.
4. On March 11th, 1925, the Registror sent to the
Education Department, Ministry of Education, Feking, at their
request, sme University publications, and enclosed a statement
of account for the Peking students ($54,730) and also drew the
attention of the Ministry of Education to the sum of $5,391.75
owing by the President of Ching. On March 20th a letter va.3
received from the Colonial Secretory enclosing copy of a letter
written to the Wai Chise Pu on March 5th from the British
Legation, Peking, in which a request for an early settlement
of the Central Government debt was made, The Colonial Secretary,
in his letter, stated that he thought the time ( March, 1925 )
inopportune for pressure to be brought regarding the payment of
the Presidential Scholorships scecunt. He asked to be informed
of the exact amounts at present outstanding in respect of the
Ministry of Education debt and the Presidential Scholarships debt.
On August 1st, 1925, the Registrer made formal
application to the Minister of Education for the payment of
$56,460.00 en account of the Feking Government Scholarships and
enclosed statement of accounts and the records of two scholars
viz; - Messrs. Shu Yu Pong and Liu Tạng Kwen.

On November 17th, 1925, the Vice-Chancellor wrote to
Mr. H. H. Fox of the British Legation, Peking, enclosing a copy
of the account and suggesting that as the Tariff Conference had
just started it might be a good opportunity to once again present
the bill. ir. Fox replied under date of December 2nd, 1925,
asking for a complete statement of the University's clain, giving
particulars of the exact obligations incurred by the President,
the Ministry of Education and the provincial administrations,
